It goes without saying that you write your resume in order to achieve a single goal – to get an interview and afterwards to have a new job. However, most managers confess that they spend only 20 second to skip through a resume. So your resume shouldn’t contain glaring mistakes, such as:

absence of contact information

Believe it or not but a lot of people simply forget to include contact information in their resumes. So it doesn’t matter how cool and proficient your are, your resume will end in a trash bin. One more tip – use only appropriate emails addresses – avoid such things as sexymama@hotmail.

errors

Avoid both spelling and grammatical errors. Give your relatives or friend to read your resume – may be they will find some mistakes.

too much information

Frankly speaking, nobody is interested in your hobbies and university activities, leave them to your partner.

I don’t want to scare you but the competition on the job market is really tough and because of crises is gets even worse. So in such a situation your résumé is a No. 1 marketing tool and it should be fantastic, clear and as short as possible. I am not going to name you the all things a nice and successful resume should contain, but I am ready to share with you 3 main things a good résumé shouldn’t be without:

be focused

It is no use to write how clever and amazing you are, you’d better write that you have to become a “Chief Financial Officer” in this company AND THAT’S ALL.

keywords

You should be as precise as possible, clearly tell all your biggest skills and don’t forget to include something like problem-solving, leadership and oral communication..

achievements

You should state your achievements because only viewing them companies can understand whether you can make money or not.

A business card is one of the main points of any successful business. Frankly speaking, according to its super small size and comparatively cheap price (unless you don’t feel like making gold variants, lol) it is perhaps the most powerful part of your company.

First of all, you have to understand what message such a card should convey. It must present your professional image for people to understand and remember. A business card always makes a client’s first impression. It will be really surprising for a reliable and authoritative auto company to put a funky smiling red car on a business card.

There are some business cards’ styles:

Basic cards

As a rule they are monochrome and their main aim to deliver facts and information. Nothing special, no bright details, no brave words.

Picture cards

Colourful, bright cards with your photo or a picture of your services will make people remember your company in a nick of time.

Tactile cards

Main aim of these cards to make people notice it. They can be made of some really unusual and nonstandard materials, such as wood, or they can have unique folds or ages. But be careful you will pay the price for such cards.

A business card itself:

Pay your special attention to the fact that your card SHOULD include the essentials, such as: your name, company, address, phone number, e-mail. Everything must clear and understandable.

Today I would like to touch upon a very acute theme – persuasion. Persuasion is about letting people to WANT to do what YOU want them to do. Sounds awful, yeah? But it’s true. The entire world lives like this since we face the results of persuasion every day: advertisement, fashion magazines, books … Pay your attention to the fact that successful people are not those who are talented and clever, but those who are great persuaders.

The following tips will help you to persuade people:

Ask for something you want when a person is in a good mood. Not very fair but the right technique;

Smile;

Emphasize all the benefits of your idea to THEIR further business or life;

Don’t be afraid to agree with the person but only to some extent. For example, use such phrases as: “Okay, but…” or “Yeah except…”;

If you really have some false conclusions, admit it – this step will make you look trustworthy;

Try to analyze why your opponents are against your idea and prepare arguments to overdo them;

Try your best to sound like a friend and not like a persuader;

Don’t forget about credibility and authority and if you don’t have them yet use references to reliable sources;

Know when to give up )))

And always remember the following phrase of Aristotle: … for persuasion to be truly effective, three elements must be present: trust, logic, and emotions.

Recently I wrote a letter with a proposition to sponsors about their financial support for some sport organizations. After they send my letter by direct mail, the beck calls were received with the first day!
What did I write?

Just remember that your letter will be read my human and not by computer, so the result more depends on used words then on subject of message. Sponsors get a numerous letters every day.
Why do they have to help you not another organization?

First of all make your text structured. It’s much easier for sponsor to agree or disagree with each definite point of letter.
Describe all advantaged of sponsorship – for example tell to sponsor why it is attractive to support your event or whatever.
E.g.

Sponsors receive loyal messages from mass-media

Good advertisement

Brand recognition and wider potential customers’ audience etc.

Great news for corporate press-release

Finishing your letter, do not forget to mention that the main reason to give money – is his (sponsor’s) kind heart and open soul, it is very important to make him thing in this way.

It works. I’ve checked.

The main rule is – talk briefly in essence. If you need your offer to be accepted by someone – find a best approach to him, according his values and desires.

For examples you are writing request to your boss about vacation.
Why do you need this vacation? Of course, you need a rest, you’ve tired of bloody hard work and which is more important you want to relax with girl/boy friend laying under Caribbean sun…sounds tempting, isn’t it?

But not for your boss, unfortunately. If you’ll explain him all mentioned above you’ll probably receive a refusal. Boss doesn’t care what you need, he care about money and efficient work.

Much better is to ground your appeal with something which is important to him. Just have a look how one manager found a words to get paid vacation, he said to chief:

“Mr.Jones, how do think, could zombie be an effective manager?
Use short sentences. Leave empty space between them. Like this.

I often see a very dramatic mistake in my colleague’s letter.
They merge all the text in one paragraph trying to build complicated sentences to make em seem smarter.
Ha ha. Emotions convince. Not Logic.

Nobody will read what seems to provide a head ache at least)
Besides, as it proven, active verbs used in a written way, work and affect like a real boss.

“Do you like our product? Get up and call 555-555-55 right now!”

The thing is, until you say to you potential customer what he should do – he wouldn’t! It is really proved by lot of ad which didn’t contain this addition and that ones which contained! (as a comparison).

One more advice to you letter. USE references!
References from satisfied clients are the most powerful tool of your letter or web site or whatever.
If you don’t have real references – write it by yourself on behalf of friends of acquaintances. Yes, it’s a little trick, but it works and brings the money. As soon as you’ll get references from real clients – you are free to put it with your letter of offer everywhere you wish!
